Rice Lake Speedway Under Water; Hall of Fame Inductions Next

By Ed Reichert

RICE LAKE, WI (August 8) - Over three inches of rain on Thursday night and poor drying conditions following that down pour led to the cancellation of the races Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway. Track officials looked at the track early on Saturday, with the hopes that they could prepare it by race time, but the infield was totally under water and many parts of the pits and the rest of the facility were rain soaked.

According to track co-owner Dave Adams, “We really hate to lose a race at this time of the year, and it is possible that the track could have been prepared, but everything else is under water and we hate to tear everything up just for one night of racing.”

The bike races scheduled as a part of the program for Saturday will be rescheduled to a date yet to be determined.

This coming Saturday, August 15th, a full five division program will be presented with warmups at 6:30 p.m and racing to follow. The point season is winding down and the Street Stocks and Pure Stocks currently have the closest battles for track championships. It will also be Hall of Fame night at the speedway with Bruce Davis, Larry Quinn, Chuck Kurtzhals, Jerry Curnow, Don Stodola and Dan Schuster being added to the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame.

On top of all that, Steve Parsons will be on hand to pass out trophies to the feature winners as a part of the Kim Parsons Memorial Trophy Tour on behalf of organ and tissue donation. Learn more about his program at www.Yes/WillWisconsin.org
