Rice Lake Speedway Car Show This Weekend

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI – The annual preseason car show for racers at the Rice Lake Speedway will be held this weekend at Rice Lake's Cedar Mall. The cars will be entered into the Mall at 6 pm on Thursday, March 30 and will remain in the Mall through Mall hours on Sunday, April 2nd.

Organizers believe the Mall will be jammed with race cars as over twenty have already signed up representing all five classes that race at the Rice Lake Speedway. Representatives of the track owners, Adams-Hansen Inc. are expected to be on hand to answer any questions regarding the 2017 racing season and hand out track schedules for the upcoming season.

The on track activity at the speedway begins on Wednesday night, April 12th with a free practice session which is open to the public. Scheduled to start at 6 pm, all classes of cars are welcome to come and shake down their cars before the season opener. The sixty fifth consecutive season of racing in Rice Lake will begin with a five class program on Saturday night, April 15th. Gates open at 4 pm for the drivers with warm ups slated for 6:30 pm with racing to follow. Track officials are excited about the 2017 season with a considerable number of new drivers having already registered their intentions to race and also a significant number of returning drivers have changed classes for 2017 including defending Midwest Modified point champion Ryan Viltz who has moved up to the Modified class for 2017.

The only significant change fans will notice is that the Pure Stock class will be WISSOTA sanctioned for 2017 along with the hold over classes of the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks. This will allow the Pure Stocks to race for national points and with standardized rules, will likely allow more competitors from other tracks to visit Rice Lake.

Anyone with any questions about the speedway and the 2017 season can call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.
