Rice Lake Speedway Wet Saturday

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI, May 20 – There was not much doubt or surprise when the Rice Lake Speedway canceled Saturday night's racing program. With all the rain, cool and windy weather plus a 100% likelihood of all day rain on Saturday, the speedway did a rare thing for them when they pulled the plug on the event twenty four hours ahead of time. Thus the Mini Mods missed out on their first ever chance to run at Rice Lake.

This Saturday, May 27th, the first special event of the season comes to the Rice Lake Speedway. Along with a full program in all five classes that normally race at the track, the UMSS Sprint Cars will be on hand to perform. Both the Winged and traditional Sprints will participate in a full program in what has become one of the most popular races of the entire racing season. Big crowds have been the norm for this event in recent years and with favorable weather, another large throng of fans is anticipated.

The pit gate opens at 4 pm with the grandstand gates opening one hour later. The Sprint Cars should be pushed off at 6:30 pm with racing action to follow.

After a regular five class program on June 3rd, the first midweek race of the 2017 racing season is slated for Tuesday, June 6th. An enhanced purse will be on the line for all five classes for the Aquafest Trophy night with the speedway then quiet on Saturday, June 10th.
For more information on the schedule or anything else relative to the track, check out either the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net or the speedway face book page.
