Rice Lake Speedway Awards Banquet is Scheduled for February 15th

By Ed Reichert

Rice Lake WI – The awards banquet celebrating the 2019 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway will be held on Saturday night, February 15th. However, this year's banquet will find a couple of significant changes being a part of the banquet.

For the first time, instead of a formal, sit down social event, the banquet will be more informal with an appetizer buffet featuring pulled pork and ham sandwiches, Smokey's, meatballs and more. This will allow management to reduce the cost of attending the banquet.

Just as significant, this year's banquet will celebrate the accomplishments of the drivers on the third mile dirt track but for the first time also, the top racers of the Speedway Kart Club will also be honored at the first ever combined banquet for the two tracks. The Kart Club ran their first event at the track in June and 2019 was the first year of its existence, which turned out to be a highly successful first year endeavor for Kart Club head and track owner Kevin Adams.

The banquet will be held at the Rice Lake Elks Lodge which is located at 36 East Eau Claire Street just one block off North Main St. in Rice Lake. The buffet begins at 6 pm and the awards will be handed out starting at 7 pm.

Set to be honored are the top ten in each of the five divisions that race weekly at the Speedway plus the Rookie of the Year in each class. For the Karters, the top ten in JR 1, Adult and Rookie Cage classes plus the top five in the JR2 and JR Wing will be honored. Door prizes will be awarded following the awards ceremony.

The cost for the meal and drinks is $15 per person with those twelve and under being charged $10. Those wishing to attend just the ceremony will be charged $10. There is no requirement to RSVP but track management asks that those attending please message the speedway face book page with the number of people planning on attending so that an accurate count can be established for food planning purposes.

Any questions can be directed to Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 and Kart questions can be directed to Kevin Adams at 715-642-0700.
