The first special event on the 2021 schedule for the Rice Lake Speedway arrives on Saturday night May 15th with the running of the annual Trackside Collectibles 40 for WISSOTA Late Models. The first of three appearances by the Late Models at the track in 2021, the Trackside Collectibles 40 gives race fans their first opportunity of the year to see the fastest cars in all of WISSOTA perform on what is a neutral site for all competitors as Late Models do not run weekly at this track.

With the early date of this event, it will mark one of the very first special events for the Late Models this year and has been picked so as to provide the least conflicts with other tracks and allow as many drivers as possible to participate in this race. Running for the same purse as the WISSOTA Challenge Series offers, the race will pay $2,000 to the winner and $200 just to start the main event. Last year's winner Pat Doar is expected to defend his title with a full field of drivers from throughout the region expected. The race will also have an international flavor as Winnipeg Manitoba's Shane Edginton, racing in the United States this Summer, has confirmed his entry to the event.

April 26, 2021 - Rice Lake Speedway Opener Delayed; Miserable Weather The Cause
Since 2017, the Rice Lake Speedway has not been able to get any April racing in at the track. And that statistic will hold as the 2021 opening night, scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, has fallen victim to the weather once again.

Rain, cold, wind and perhaps even a touch of snow during the day and the forecast of bone chilling temperatures overnight have all led to the track owners, Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen, pulling the plug on the show by Friday afternoon as while they, along with the racers, have been anxious to get the racing season started, some reasonable weather is also needed, not early March like conditions.

So everyone will meet once again next Saturday, May 1st and try it again with a five class, WISSOTA sanctioned program set to take off with gates opening at 4 pm and warm ups at 6:30 pm. Best Appearing race cars will be judged on May 1st with the awards presented the following week.

Follow the Rice Lake Speedway website or their face book page for updates as the week progresses.

April 19, 2021 - Rice Lake Speedway Slated To Open April 24th
The sixty ninth consecutive opener for the Rice Lake Speedway is scheduled for Saturday night, April 24th at the third mile dirt track located one mile North of Rice Lake.

Despite cool weather to begin the week, everything is still on as scheduled for this week which will include a practice session on Thursday night and then the race opener on Saturday.

According to speedway co-owner Mitch Hansen, “everything is a “go” at this point including both practice and the race opener. The long range forecast right now calls for cooler temperatures for the weekend and some chance of rain on Saturday morning so we will just have to monitor the situation and see what happens as much could change before that time.”

The practice is slated for Thursday from 6-9 pm with drivers in all classes invited to participate. Fans will be allowed in the grandstands without any admission charge and drivers and crews should check the speedway face book page for updates.

Racing in five WISSOTA sanctioned divisions will see the pit gates open at 4 pm, the grandstands at 5 pm and hot laps will start at 6:30 pm. Saturday night the cars will be judged and the “Best Appearing” in each class will be awarded on May 1st.

Regular race nights for the five divisions will take place the first three nights of the season before the first special event which will be the Trackside Collectibles 40 on May 15th when the WISSOTA Late Models will join the regular five divisions in a program that will see the Late Models racing for $2,000 to win their main event.

The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake midway between state highway 48 and Barron County SS. The track phone number is 715-236-2002 and Mitch Hansen can be reached at 715-205-1122 while Dave Adams can be reached at 715-205-2861.

April 10, 2021 - Rice Lake Speedway Racers Celebrate
Racers, crews, sponsors, car owners, track workers and fans all gathered on Saturday night, April 10th at the Rice Lake Elks Club to celebrate and put the 2020 racing season in their rear view mirrors. While the season was one of the most challenging in recent memory, all made the best of things to enjoy their Saturday nights at the track and came together to wrap up the season. The 2020 racing season did not get started until May 30th and the eleven race season was perhaps the shortest complete season in the sixty nine year history of the track. However, races were held and champions were produced and the most successful of the racers were honored on Saturday.

The top ten drivers in each of the five classes that race at the speedway weekly were honored along with special awards presented. Track co-owner Dave Adams served as the Master of Ceremonies on Saturday and he provided a preview of what the 2021 racing season would look like and gave details on some of the special events, particularly the new events on the schedule for the coming season. <<MORE>>

Along with three $2,000 to win Late Model specials, the weekly competitors in the other divisions that race will also get to be involved in some new races booked on the schedule.

According to track co-owner Dave Adams, “ we were looking at adding some fun new events and shaking things up just a bit,” stated Adams. “These new races should be fun for both the racers and fans and give the drivers a chance to win a few extra dollars along with that.” <<MORE>>

March 9, 2021 - Rice Lake Speedway Sets Opening Events
With the first signs of Spring in the air, the Rice Lake Speedway is ready to announce some of their opening events for the 2021 racing season which will mark the sixty ninth consecutive season of racing at the third mile speed plant on Rice Lake's North Side.

Opening night for 2021 is slated to take place on Saturday night, April 24th with an open practice session scheduled for Thursday night, April 22nd. However, before that first green flag flies for the 2021 season, a couple of other events will have already taken place. Back after missing 2020 due to the Pandemic, the Rice Lake Speedway car show will be held at Rice Lake's Cedar Mall on March 26th through the 28th with the cars slated to enter the Mall on Thursday night and remain there all weekend.
