May 21, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Schedule Update Announced
It was announced on Monday, May 20th by Rice Lake Speedway co-owner Dave Adams that a schedule adjustment has been made for the races scheduled for Saturday night, May 25th. The Modified and Midwest Modified divisions have been added to the program on that date, making for a regular five class program.

Originally the Modifieds and Midwest Modifieds had been given that night off in deference to a special program scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend at another track in Minnesota. However, circumstances changed when that track altered its program for the weekend and with Midwest Modified and Modified teams requesting that their classes be added to the May 25th program at Rice Lake, track management has agreed.

The featured attraction on May 25th is the UMSS Sprint Cars with both the Winged and Traditional Sprints running a full program of heats and features. However, now the five weekly classes that regularly race at Rice Lake, the WISSOTA sanctioned Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks will also now run complete programs, making for a spectacular show to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday.

All five classes will be running for WISSOTA National points but it should be noted that the Modifieds and Midwest Modifieds will not be running for track points on May 25th, in fairness to those teams that have opted to travel believing that Rice Lake was not going to run their class.

Warm ups begin at 6:30 pm with racing to follow on May 25th.

Any questions on this coming weekend's program should be directed to either Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.

May 19, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Wet; Sprint Cars Next on Schedule
An all day downpour on Saturday starting in the early morning hours ended quickly any chances of their being any racing Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway. The rain out was the fourth for the speedway already this season.

This coming Saturday, May 25th, marks one of the special events that will be coming to the speedway this year. The Upper Midwest Sprint Cars(UMSS) will be on hand and they will be featuring both the Traditional(non winged) and Winged Sprint Cars with two full and distinct divisions running complete programs. This Memorial Day weekend event has become a racing tradition for the track and a full field of cars and many, once a year, visiting spectators are expected.

Along with both classes of Sprints, WISSOTA sanctioned Pure Stocks, Street Stocks and Super Stocks will also be in action with full racing programs in those three divisions. There is also a possibility that other divisions may yet be added to the program so race fans and drivers should check the speedway face book page and website for any possible changes to the racing program for Saturday.

The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake midway between state highway 48 and Barron county highway SS. Warm ups are slated for 6:30 pm with racing to follow.

Call Dave Adams at 715-205-2862 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122 with any questions.

May 11, 2019 - Myers Repeats at Rice Lake Speedway
The second week of the 2019 racing season took place Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway and the five classes that routinely run at the track also raced as a part of the Trackside Collectibles 40 WISSOTA Late Model race that was won by Jesse Glenz. Of the five winners, the only repeat winner was Curt Myers in the Super Stocks as the Cameron driver dominated for the second straight week in the class. First time winners included Mike Anderson, George Dalbeck, Hunter VanGilder and following a disqualification of the apparent Pure Stock winner, Randy Graham was declared the winner of the Pure Stock feature. <<MORE>>

May 11, 2019 - Glenz Dominates Rice Lake Speedway Trackside 40
Jesse Glenz took the lead from A.J. Diemel exiting turn two on the ninth lap of the Trackside Collectibles 40 Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway and he led the rest of the race to earn his first ever Late Model win at this track in the WISSOTA sanctioned event. Glenz dominated the second half of the race, opening up nearly a full straightaway lead over the field until he came upon lapped traffic late in the race but he successfully navigated that to maintain a comfortable lead to the finish. <<MORE>>

May 4, 2019 - Mahder Tops Rice Lake Speedway Opener
It took four tries, but the Rice Lake Speedway was finally able to open up Saturday night and begin its sixty seventh consecutive year of racing at the venerable facility on Rice Lake's North side. In opening night action, the first five feature winners of the season included Cory Mahder, Curt Myers, Kevin Adams, Jay Kesan and Jeremy Cash.

Mike Anderson was the early leader of the Modified feature after he drew the pole for the main event. Early on he fought off Ashley Anderson until Kevin Adams came storming up from the third row to challenge. Adams was driving hard on the cushion as he moved past cars on the outside lane of the track and he was soon up to challenging Mike Anderson for the lead. <<MORE>>

April 28, 2019 - Late Models Set For Rice Lake Speedway May 11th
Building on the success of recent Late Model shows at the Rice Lake Speedway, Adams-Hansen Inc have again scheduled an early season show of the high powered cars at the Rice Lake Speedway.

Slated for Saturday night, May 11th, The Trackside Collectibles 40 will feature a full program of the WISSOTA sanctioned cars as they compete in a forty lap, two thousand dollar to win main event that offers the Late Models two hundred dollars just to start the feature race. The purse, in fact, is the duplicate purse offered by the very successful Wollak Construction Challenge Series, which by the way, will again visit the track on July 27th.

In 2018, a full field of Late Models was on hand for this event with local driver Steve Laursen, from Cumberland, topping the field and earning his first win at the track since 2005 in front of a huge early season crowd. A considerable number of drivers have been contacted relative to this year's race and the overwhelming response has been very positive, leading to the conclusion that a top notch and hefty field of drivers should be expected.

For 2019, much of the pre race scenario is the same as last year. Many early season shows have already been canceled or postponed, all Late Model tracks in this area either have May 11th off or have not yet opened their seasons and this will be the first extra distance, large paying race of the season. All of which again points toward a sizable field of cars on hand for this event.

After last year's success, sponsor Loren Miller has again come on board to help support this event which will also feature a full program of WISSOTA sanctioned Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks.

Pit gates will open at 4 pm on race night with the grandstand opening at 5 pm. Warm ups begin at 6:30 pm with racing to follow. Check the Rice Lake Speedway website and face book page for more particulars on the event as it approaches.

For more information, call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.

April 27, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Froze Out; Opener Now Set for May 4th
The 2018 racing season saw the Rice Lake Speedway get off to a miserable start with the first three shows canceled and no racing taking place at the speedway until the month of May.

Sadly, 2019 has followed that same grim path as Saturday night's third attempt to get the season started was canceled due to bone chilling temperatures. “It's just too cold to ask the people to sit outside and watch the races tonight,” stated track co-owner Dave Adams. “If it was just another ten degrees or so warmer or if we had the sun shining it would have been a big help.” When canceled, the temperature at the track was a chilling 37 degrees. “The alcohol burning cars won't even run right when it's this cold,” Adams conceded.

So, the speedway will try once again on Saturday, May 4th to attempt to get their sixty seventh consecutive season of racing at the speed plant on Rice Lake's North side going. Five classes of cars will be in action with warm ups slated for 6:30 pm and hopefully the speedway will be able to get one night of racing in before the Late Model special on May 11th.

As always, check the speedway website or face book page for the latest updates on racing at ricelakespeedway.net or call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.

April 22, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Ready to Practice and Race This Week
As of Monday, April 22nd, everything is a “go” for both practice and the opening night of the 2019 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway. The weekend provided much in the way of drying for the grounds and despite Monday's soaking rain, everything is expected to be ready for racing action this week.

On Thursday, from 6 pm to 9 pm open practice will be held at the speedway. All cars in all classes are welcome to participate. The cost will be $30 per car to cover insurance costs but everyone will be allowed on the grounds, free of charge whether they chose to go into the pits or watch practice from the spectator areas.

Then, on Saturday April 27th, the speedway will make its third attempt to open for the sixty seventh year of consecutive racing action in Rice Lake. The pit gate will be open all day so early arrivals can park and work on their cars. Pit passes will be sold starting at 4 pm and the spectator gates will open at 5 pm. Warm ups are slated for 6:30 pm with racing action to follow immediately.

Five WISSOTA sanctioned classes will be in action and racing for both national and track points including the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Street Stocks and Pure Stocks. A large field of cars is anticipated for the opener with many out of town drivers expected.

Opening night will include judging of the Best Appearing Cars with those awards to be presented the following Saturday night. The first special event of the year is slated for Saturday night, May 11th when the second annual Trackside Collectibles 40 for WISSOTA Late Models will be the special attraction. Sprint Cars will then visit the track the last weekend of May.

The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake midway between state highway 48 and Barron County SS. The track phone number is 715-236-2002 and for more information, call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122.

April 18, 2019 - Near "Bom Cyclone" Blows Up Rice Lake Speedway Opener Plans
While the Rice Lake Wisconsin area didn't feel nearly the effects of the latest Winter storm that some other folks did, what the storm did manage to produce was more than enough to cause the opening night of the 2019 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway to be delayed one more week.

By early in the week of what was to be the once delayed opening night of action, there was still snow on the race track left over from last week's storm and the pit area along with spectator parking areas are still both very soft and with the promise of a soaking rain moving through the area on Wednesday and Thursday, track owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen were left with little choice other than to postpone opening night one more week.

Everyone involved with the speedway is disappointed with the early season weather, especially coming on the heels of a 2018 racing season where the first four events were lost to the weather and the track didn't get its first race in until May.

However, there is one more opportunity yet this year before the same scenario occurs. Now scheduled for Saturday night, April 27th, the sixty seventh consecutive season opener, featuring a five class program of dirt track racers, is slated to begin at the third mile track located one mile North of Rice Lake. Opening night action is scheduled to begin directly after hot laps at 6:30 pm with racers from three states and Canada anticipated to be on hand for the opener. Best Appearing Cars are slated to be judged on opening night with the winners to be announced the following week. The opener will be proceeded by a practice session for all race cars, no matter what class, on Thursday night, April 25th. For the practice session, each car participating will be charged $30 to cover insurance costs. However, all people in the pits and in the spectator areas may enter free of charge, thanks to Adams-Hansen Inc.

Two regular Saturday night programs are now slated to start the season before the first special event of 2019 takes place. On Saturday night, May 11th, the second annual Trackside Collectibles 40 for WISSOTA Late Models will take place with the winner to take home two thousand dollars along with a full program in the five classes that regularly race at the track.

For the most up to date information, visit the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and be sure to check out the speedway face book page. Call Dave Adams at 715-205-2861 or Mitch Hansen at 715-205-1122 with any questions.

April 17, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Midweek Update for Opening Night, April 20th
As of Tuesday afternoon, April 16th, the Rice Lake Speedway is on schedule to open up their sixty seventh season of dirt track racing at the Rice Lake Speedway on Saturday night, April 20th. After having lost their scheduled opener seven days ago due to wet and cold conditions, the speedway management is very anxious to get the racing season under way.

However, weather conditions over the next couple of days will play a large part as to whether or not the opener will take place this coming Saturday. Track co-owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen will monitor track and facility conditions as they may change over the next couple of days and should any postponement be necessary, it will be announced immediately.

If things continue as planned, six WISSOTA sanctioned divisions of racing will take to the track on Saturday night with warm ups slated for 6:30 pm and racing to immediately follow. Drivers are urged to get to the track early if at all possible and they should also go online and register their intent to race beforehand.

One casualty of the questionable midweek weather is the practice night slated for Thursday which will not be held now with no plans to hold that practice unless the entire weekend of racing is lost.

Racers and fans alike should monitor the various media outlets over the rest of the week to get the latest information and news. The speedway face book page will have the latest updates along with the speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net. Contact Adams at 715-205-2861 or Hansen at 715-205-1122 with questions. The race day phone number is 715-236-2002.

April 15, 2019 - 2019 Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame Nominees Announced
The nominating committee for the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame met recently to consider candidates for induction to the Hall. Four more inductees will be added to the Hall in 2019.

When the voting was completed and authenticated, the four candidates or their family members were contacted to inform them of their selection. Named to the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame in 2019 are drivers Don”Poo Bear” Folz and the late Ronnie Ward. The two nominees in the “Friends of the Speedway” category are Jim Viltz and the late Ione Harrington.

Folz, from Rice Lake, was a nineteen time winner at the track in both Street Stocks and Super Stocks with his last win coming in 1999. He joins his wife Terry who is already a member of the Hall of Fame.

Ward was just starting to reach his peak as a driver when he was tragically killed in a car accident at the corner of Messenger and Main Street in Rice Lake in the early morning hours of July 4th, 1966. Known on the track as “Wild Man Ward,” his bold and colorful driving style made him a fan favorite and a many time winner during his thirteen year racing career.

Viltz, from Cameron, has been involved with the Rice Lake Speedway for over forty years. He was both a Chief Mechanic for Hall of Fame drivers and a car owner of winning cars with both his sons driving for him. He is also credited with being a primary developer of the Pure Stock class which in 2019 topped all WISSOTA tracks in average car count per night.

Harrington was one of the group of founders of the Indianhead Stock Car Racing Association and a tireless worker in many capacities at the track in its earliest years. For many years she was the head ticket seller at the track and the first person any visitor to the track would meet. Her husband Dean was a member of the speedway's inaugural class in 2011.

The official induction ceremony will take place at the Speedway on August 10th. All members are invited to a meal at the track hosted by Speedway owners Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen, after which the new inductees will be presented to the crowd in a ceremony at track central at intermission of the racing program that night.

For more information on the Rice Lake Speedway Hall of Fame or to see a complete listing of all members, visit the Speedway website at www.ricelakespeedway.net and click on the Hall of Fame tab.

Rice Lake WI – It's that time of year once again as the racers and the pit crews that put their finely tuned racing machines together are anxious to show off their new creations to the public. And that will take place as the annual Rice Lake Speedway Car Show will once again be held at Rice Lake's Cedar Mall. Dates for the 2019 show are April 4th through the 7th with the cars going into the Mall on Thursday night and exiting on Sunday.

Cars that race in all five divisions that regularly compete at the speedway are expected to be on display along with perhaps some of the machines that will compete in the special events at the track including Late Models and Sprint Cars. With the Rice Lake Speedway planning to build a Kart track at the facility this Spring, some of the racers from that new form of racing to the area are also expected to be on hand.

Track officials will be on hand to hand out race schedules for the upcoming season as well as answer any questions racers or fans may have and also get more information on the new track to be built for the Karts. Preseason interest in the new Kart track has been very high.

March 4, 2019 - Rice Lake Speedway Announces 2019 Race Schedule
Rice Lake WI – Adams-Hansen Inc, the owners of the Rice Lake Speedway, have announced their planned race schedule for the 2019 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway. A twenty night schedule of racing action is being planned that will feature the core five classes of cars that race at the regular Saturday night shows but also in action during the year will be Late Models along with Winged and traditional Sprint Cars.

The special events that the speedway has become well known for hosting, the Street Stock Little Dream race and the WISSOTA Challenge Series races will return along with the Trackside Collectibles 40 for the WISSOTA Late Models. The Modifieds will get their chance at the big money again when the Advantage RV Modified Tour returns to the track for the second straight year, this time on a Saturday night. And of course, traditional races like the Firecracker Special on July 3rd, Kid's Night, Hall of Fame night and the Bike Races will again highlight weekly shows.

The regular Saturday night race programs will again feature five classes of cars, the Pure Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks and Modifieds, all under the sanctioning of the WISSOTA Promoters Association again in 2019.

A highlight event this year will be the 25th annual Street Stock Little Dream race on July 30th with many special activities as a part of this historic running of the highest paying Street Stock type race in the United States. Last year the winner earned over sixteen thousand dollars and the sky will be the limit as to what the race will pay to win in 2019. Adams Automotive will be the title sponsor and owner Todd Manley has already guaranteed that all starters in the main event will earn at least $500 for taking a green flag.

As usual, the season begins with the annual car show to be held at Rice Lake's Cedar Mall from April 4-7 with the first on track activity to begin with a scheduled practice night on April 11th. Then, the sixty seventh consecutive season opener of the Rice Lake Speedway is slated for Saturday night, April 13th.

November 24, 2018 - Rice Lake Speedway Wins Special Award
Rice Lake WI – The Rice Lake Speedway recently won a special award at the WISSOTA National Banquet held November 10th in St. Cloud Minnesota. At the National Banquet, the top drivers in all divisions that race under the WISSOTA sanctioning body are honored for their accomplishments and other special awards are also presented.

The Rice Lake Speedway, under the promotion and ownership of Dave Adams and Mitch Hansen, both from Cameron Wisconsin, won the prestigious 2018 WISSOTA Promotion of the Year award for the annual Street Stock “Little Dream” race held at the Rice Lake Speedway.

This event, which features a very unique format in that fans in the stands and representatives of local and area businesses help build up the purse for the event by contributing cash for various finishing positions along with other special incentives. In 2018, the event set a record for the top finisher as winner Danny Richards from Mondovi Wisconsin went home with a top prize of $16,088 for the feature win.

In the nine years that Adams-Hansen Inc. has owned the Rice Lake Speedway, the top prize for this race has exploded upward from the $3,000 plus payoff in 2010 to over sixteen thousand dollars this year. In the twenty four year history of this race, over $250,000 in cash price money has gone out to the competitors in this unique race and it is clearly a race that fans love to attend as in 2018, the Adams-Hansen Inc. ownership group saw attendance for this race break all records for a one night crowd since they purchased the track in 2010.

The 2019 edition of the “Little Dream” race is scheduled for July 30th and with it being the twenty fifth anniversary of this hugely popular race, some very special things to celebrate that anniversary are in the planning stages.

The ownership and management of the Rice Lake Speedway is very grateful to their fans and drivers for their great support of this event which keeps it growing each year and invite everyone to monitor the Rice Lake Speedway face book page for updates as planning continues for the 2019 racing season.

Rice Lake WI, April 16 – The weather this week did not provide the kind of relief that those interested in starting the 2018 racing season at the Rice Lake Speedway were hoping for. Track co-owner Dave Adams announced Monday morning that the practice sessions slated this week to be followed by the season opener on Saturday night, April 21st have been put on delay once again.
