Parker Anderson is a Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 Champion

By Tony Steuck

FERGUS FALLS, MN (September 18) - Parker Anderson put an exclamation
mark on a dominant season in the Street Stock division. The teenager
from Phillips, WI took the lead on lap 10 of the WISSOTA 100 main event
and raced to the $2,000 victory on Saturday night.

Jonny Carter shot to the lead on the opening lap of the 30-lap Street
Stock feature while Anderson and Jeff Nowak were side by side for
second. Braden Brauer and Justin Vogel battled in the top five as well.
Nowak secured second on lap two and Vogel found an opening to scoot into
third on lap three. Brauer ran fourth and Anderson was back to fifth
before a caution with two laps recorded.

Vogel advanced to second after the restart and Brauer and Anderson
ganged up on Nowak in the battle for third. After another caution on the
next lap, Anderson fought to third and Ryan Satter joined Brauer to
challenge Nowak for position. Anderson threw a slide job at Vogel for
second on lap seven, but the pass did not stick. He tried the move again
on the following circuit and made it happen; he cut into Carter’s lead
before a caution with nine laps scored.

Anderson powered into turn one after the restart and slid in front of
Carter to nab the lead. Anderson edged away while Brauer slipped by
Vogel for third. Brauer tested Carter for second and made the pass on
lap 12.

After a caution, the top three of Anderson, Brauer and Carter sped away
from the pack while Kyle Dykhoff, Nowak and Satter battled for fourth.
Satter claimed the spot after a lap 14 restart, but Dykhoff and Nowak
reversed the move on the next lap. The three-way battle closed on Carter
in third. Anderson and Brauer had separated themselves from the pack and
were a few car lengths apart before a lap 19 caution.

Brauer tested Anderson after the restart and Carter took another shot
after a lap 21 restart, but Anderson maintained the point with Brauer
second and Carter third. Dykhoff stuck his nose under Carter and Kyle
Genett moved forward to fifth.

Despite a late caution, Anderson raced without a challenge over the
final pair of circuits and earned his first WISSOTA 100 title. Brauer
settled for second ahead of Carter, Genett and Dykhoff in the top five.
Satter, Hunter Domagala, Tim Johnson, Kyle Anderson and Vogel filled out
the top 10.

Six spots remained open in the feature when the Street Stock Last Chance
Qualifier rolled on the track to kick off the night. Russell Kostreba
and Jeremy Castro battled for the lead early before Kostreba secured the
position. He pulled away from the pack while Jeff Ekdahl worked to take
a spot away from Castro.

After a mid-race caution, Kostreba pulled away again while 11th-starter
Daniel Aberle raced into fourth. Kurt Becken ran in a transfer position
until he lost power on the final lap. The top six at the finish were
Kostreba, Ekdahl, Castro, Aberle, Joe Potter and Josh Long.
